Wine Club – For the parents
I decided to throw a little wine party for my parents and their
friends. It was an excuse to share some great wines that
I got for Christmas and a nice premise to get the elders together.
That doesn’t sound very nice does it? Better than old people I
suppose.

I used the occasion to try some new preps that
I have been playing around with. One is a carpaccio of Filet
Mignon. The meat is cooked sous-vide at 130 degrees for
and hour and then seared and served paper thin after a
slight freeze. The meat comes out a beautiful redish pink
with less chewiness than raw meat. Another is cow tongue
but I’ll leave that for another post.

We tasted eight wines, Four whites and four reds. There were
two wines that really stood out for me. A Torrontes from
Argentina really surprised me with its intense aromas and
straight forward acidity.
The second was Bordeaux from Chateau Cap de
Faugeres. This wine had intense blackberry and
cassis jam like flavors. Really big body and an
extremely long finish.
The night was fun. We drank good wines and enjoyed
each others company which is what its all about isn’t it?
